The entire Cabrelli family loved this wisdom from Bill Gates...
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helpin g you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one

Hi Lisa!
Nice to back over here. I have a lot to catch up on.
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! And go Bill Gates! It's about time someone spoke some reality to this feel good generation of pampered children. Now if only parents would get a clue, the world would be a better place!
I'm printing this out and sticking it to the fridge!
I love your post. He has a great way of saying what needs to be said. Perfect!
Awesome post! I love it! Everything there is just so very true!
Go Gates!
He is a very wise man, despite his relatively young age. It's nice to know that there are some rich and famous people who have a good head on their shoulders and know what common sense is. Even though it seems not to be quite so common anymore...
Lol, I've seen this before. It's awesome, and so true. Glad someone tells it like it is sometimes!
I love that! I'm going to copy and paste it so I can print it up and stick on my frig. Thanks for sharing!
This is so true! We were just talking about the disservice reality show judges do to the contestants allowing them to mouth off when the judges are trying to critique their work. When they don't win the competition, which most of them won't, what director or record executive (or whatever) is going to allow them to be rude when their work is critiqued? There are 100 more of you waiting in the wings, kiddies, without the attitude.
This is all so true... back at school I thought that life was a breeze and that after school it was going to be breezier... WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! That is when real life sets in but I will say one thing... I learnt more out of school then I did in school...having said that... I did have fun at school with nice memories... school work... what was that???
